About the call

Research project title: SLAVIC STUDIES

Summary: the successful candidate will be required to focus in particular on the study of the Italian translations of works by nineteenth-century Russian writers, combining translation analysis with the theoretical and methodological approach of imagology studies. The investigation will focus on representations of distinctive aspects of Russian culture that emerge in the translated texts, either explicitly or implicitly, assessing the extent to which they result from interpretative strategies, ideological filters, or editorial mediation, or whether they convey an accurate image consistent with the historical, cultural, and linguistic context in which the original works were produced. In order to trace the evolution of these representations, a corpus of selected translations will be compiled and organized according to a chronological criterion, allowing for a diachronic analysis of the role played by translation in the construction of intercultural imagery

Call description: the successful candidate will teach courses in Russian Language and Literature within the degree programs L11, L12, LM37, and LM38, as well as in any other programs within the University which include courses in the academic discipline SLAV-01/A.- Third mission duties: The successful candidate will be required to carry out Third Mission activities, also in collaboration with the “International Center for Pavel Muratov Studies,” with which the University has an agreement, in order to promote and disseminate a broader knowledge of Russian culture. She/He/They will also be expected to engage in outreach activities in the field of Russian language and literature, in collaboration with local “Readers’ Circles” and with schools at both regional and national levels. Finally, the successful candidate will contribute to the Third Mission initiatives promoted by the Department

Descrizione del bando

Titolo del progetto di ricerca: Slavistica

Descrizione sintetica: Il/la ricercatore/trice dovrà studiare le traduzioni italiane delle opere di scrittori russi dell’Ottocento, combinando l’analisi traduttologica con l’approccio teorico-metodologico degli studi imagologici. L’indagine verterà sulle rappresentazioni di aspetti peculiari della cultura russa che emergono nei testi tradotti, in maniera esplicita o implicita, valutando in che misura esse siano frutto di strategie interpretative, filtri ideologici o mediazioni editoriali, oppure restituiscano un’immagine veritiera, aderente al contesto storico-culturale e linguistico che li ha prodotti. Al fine di osservare l’evoluzione di tali rappresentazioni sarà costituito un corpus di traduzioni selezionate e ordinate secondo un criterio cronologico che consenta di analizzare in prospettiva diacronica il ruolo svolto dalla traduzione nella costruzione dell’immaginario interculturale;
