The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) seeks a motivated and independent postdoctoral fellow to a two-year position in Connect4Health, a Horizon Europe-funded research project in implementation research.

Connect4Health will support health systems in Indonesia, Uganda, Nepal and Ethiopia in the work of non-infectious diseases and mental health. The project combines digital health solutions with local community-based approaches to screening, referral and follow-up. The research examines how such solutions can be used and become part of ordinary health services.

FHI leads the work package about strategies for the use of data and knowledge-based decision making. FHI also contributes to the project's work with national plans for sustainability and upscaling. The work is carried out in collaboration with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (Ephi) and research and implementation partners in the four countries.

About the position

The postdoctor will be affiliated with a cluster for global health in the field of health services at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. Under the guidance of the project manager, the postdoctor will contribute to planning, coordination and implementation of FHI's responsibility in Connect4Health.

The position combines independent scientific work and coordination across institutions and countries.

The postdoctor will have the opportunity to develop and manage high quality research in implementation and health system research in an established international consortium. Key tasks include the development of research issues and protocol, implementation of research, method development, scientific publications and policy summary.

The postdoctor will cooperate with researchers, decision makers, health managers and implementation teams from various academic, institutional, national and cultural contexts. The role requires good cooperation to establish equal partnerships, facilitate common decisions and ensure progress in dialogue with partners, while the partners' competence, priorities and leadership are recognized and strengthened.

Some international travel activities must be expected.

Labor languages in cluster for global health are Norwegian and English. Workplace is Oslo, and the position requires physical presence and active participation in the research environment at FHI.

Tasks

Plan, coordinate and implement implementation and health system research in Connect4Health, with special responsibility for scientific quality and progress.

Develop research issues, protocols, theoretical or analytical frameworks, data collection tools and analysis plans in collaboration with project partners.

Carry out and contribute to qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods studies, including comparative analyzes between countries.

Coordinate contributions from various institutions and countries and contribute to continuous research processes while maintaining necessary adaptations to various contexts.

Examine implementation processes and results, contextual factors, adaptations, institutionalization and opportunities for upscaling.

Collaborate with researchers, health players and decision makers to develop relevant approaches and strengthen the use of knowledge in politics and practices.

Lead and contribute to scientific publications, project reports, policy summary, presentations at conferences and other scientific and policy-relevant deliveries.

Contribute to ethical approval, data management and quality assurance processes in line with the project and FHEs requirements.

Engage actively in the Connect4Health Consortium and in the academic and social environment of cluster for global health at FHI.

Qualifications

Must requirements

PhD within implementation research, public health, global health, healthcare and health system research, epidemiology or other relevant subject area. Applicants who have delivered the doctoral thesis within the application deadline can also apply. The doctoral degree must be approved no later than four months after the application deadline.

Qualitative research experience, including study design, data collection and analysis.

Experience with quantitative data and / or mixed Methods research.

Experience with the development of research protocols, data collection tools and / or analysis plans.

Experience with coordination of research collaboration and abilities to take independent responsibility for planning, progress and deliveries.

Experience with work across disciplines, institutions or country and ability to cooperate effectively across various institutional, professional, national and cultural contexts.

Scientific publication list which is relative to the career stadium.

Very good written and oral skills in English.

Desirable qualifications

It is an advantage if the candidate has experience with one or more of the following areas:

Digital health solutions, health information systems or use of routine data for planning and decision making.

Implementeringsforskning.

User involvement in research, co-design, policy dialog or research in collaboration with decision makers.

Research related to non-infectious diseases, mental health, integrated services, reference process and / or continuity in healthcare.

Experience in developing policy summaries, implementation instructions or other products based on research results

Experience from international research consortia, EU-funded projects, work packaging managerial responsibilities or other project deliveries.

Research or work experience from Indonesia, Uganda, Nepal and / or Ethiopia.

Good oral and written skills in Norwegian at minimum B2 level.

Om stillingen

Postdoktoren vil være tilknyttet Klynge for global helse i Område for helsetjenester ved Folkehelseinstituttet. Under veiledning av prosjektleder vil postdoktoren bidra til planlegging, koordinering og gjennomføring av FHIs ansvar i CONNECT4HEALTH.

Stillingen kombinerer selvstendig vitenskapelig arbeid og koordinering på tvers av institusjoner og land.

Arbeidsoppgaver

Planlegge, koordinere og gjennomføre implementerings- og helsesystemforskning i CONNECT4HEALTH, med særlig ansvar for vitenskapelig kvalitet og framdrift.

Kvalifikasjoner

Må-krav

PhD innen implementeringsforskning, folkehelse, global helse, helsetjeneste- og helsesystemforskning, epidemiologi eller annet relevant fagområde.
