Strong research and attractive education attracts researchers and students from all over the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University of Gothenburg contributes to a better future.
The Department of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, conducts translational research mainly on metabolism, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease in order to improve health and healthcare in society. The overall goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of very high international standards.
The work of the research group in Molecular Epidemiology and Cardiology focuses on translational studies to understand mechanisms behind and improve prevention and treatment for heart failure and heart muscle disease. The group consists of molecular biologists, bioinformatics, epidemiologists and clinics.
Tasks
The researcher will be responsible in the group for carrying out work on cell models (especially cardiomyocytes), animal models (mouses) and a number of specific molecular biology cutting-edge techniques on human cardiac tissue within the framework of ongoing projects, including single cell (nuclei) isolation, spatial transcriptomics and proteostasis analyses.
Qualifications
We are looking for a researcher with a doctoral degree focused on molecular biology and experience in preclinical and translational studies of cardiovascular disease. Documented experience of these methods is therefore of great importance. Good knowledge of Swedish and/or English is a requirement. Strong background in cell and animal models is also a requirement. Experience with heart models is highly meritorious, as is experience in transcriptomics and proteostasis studies of heart tissue.
We attach great importance to personal fitness. It is important that the applicant can cooperate well with other researchers and clinics within a larger team. The applicant should also demonstrate good independence and have a structured approach.
