Cultural geography is about how people, companies and regions are developing in relation to the outside world. We study geographical conditions, relationships and change processes such as globalization, urbanization and sustainable development, as well as all the factors that affect society's development in different places in the world. In other words, we take a holistic approach to society's development - locally, regionally and globally. Cultural geography is also about how networks and contacts link people and activities nationally and internationally. We try to take a holistic approach and study the diversity of factors that affect society, the development of the built environment and human culture in different locations.

Tasks

We are looking for a doctoral student to the research project Close - consequences of local service establishments. The work in the project will begin immediately after the employment has begun.

Postgraduate education includes four-year full-time studies and leads to a doctoral degree.

Within the framework of your doctoral student, you can have institutional service with a scale of the most 20% of full-time, distributed over the entire training time. Such service means that the training time is extended correspondingly. Institutional service usually includes teaching at the basic level and advanced level, but also research and administration can be included.

The research project Close - consequences of local service establishments examine the long-term social and economic consequences of new service establishments in Swedish cities and neighborhoods. For access to postgraduate education at postgraduate level, basic jurisdiction and, where appropriate, the specific competence determined in the general study plan for the postgraduate education element.

Basic eligibility for postgraduate education at postgraduate level has it as:

• exhausted graduation at advanced level, or
• Fulfilled course claims on at least 240 High school credits, at least 60 High school credits at advanced level, or

Admission and employment

After you have been admitted to postgraduate education, you will receive a doctoral position at the University of Gothenburg. Provisions for employment as a doctoral student can be found in Regulation SFS 1993: 100. The first employment as a doctoral student may apply for a maximum of one year and may be renewed by a maximum of two years at a time. A doctoral student is as far as the employee as a doctoral student for eight years, but the total employment period may not be longer than that corresponds to education at a full-time postgraduate for four years.

The employment is located at the Department of Cultural Geography, Department of Economics and Society.

The employment is financed by Formas together with the University of Gothenburg.

Access is 2027-01-04 or as agreed.

The university applies local agreement on the salary management of doctoral students.

The postgraduate education at the Department of Economics and Society requires physical presence to implement the studies.
