Position description

The μPPET [mu ((μ)on Probe with J-PET] project aims to investigate the myths of muons derived from high-energy cosmic radiation using two PET detection systems developed at the Jagiellonian University (J-PET). This mystery is related to the observation of a much larger number of muons on the surface of the earth than is apparent from current theoretical models. The study of the muon puzzle as part of the projected update of Hadron impact models requires detailed information on muons on the ground, such as track and cargo distributions affected by polarizations and which cannot be measured in other experiments.
μPPET will carry out two parallel studies: one consisting of modification of Hadron impact models and the other providing the necessary measurements to tune and verify their predictions. The experimental configuration will use two available J-PET detection systems: an existing prototype and a mobile final detector which stando

Opis stanowiska
