We would like to welcome you to apply for a position as a scholarship in social geography and sustainable development at the Institute for Geography. The position is for an annual target period of 4 years, where 25 % of total recruitment time is career promotion work to be carried out at the institute.
The position is linked to the research group in Societal Geography and Resilient Development (PGI) which explores to a large extent the interaction between human beings, society and the environment. We're looking for a candidate with research interests that match the SGBU Group's professional focus area that includes: climate and energy conversion; food production and food security; global development and inequality; green transformation, circular economy and industrial development; local and regional development, city and planning; political ecology, land use and management of natural resources. In the application and application letter, the candidate should outline how the doctoral proposal will contribute both to societal geography in general and to one or more of the thematic areas mentioned above.
The candidate becomes a member of the BGBU research group. Career-promoting work will be between other teaching at the bachelor and master levels of the Institute's portfolio of social geography and sustainable development.

Qualifications and properties:

On doctoral training:
As a fellow, you will participate in doctoral training at the Faculty of Social Sciences, UiB. Education has a normal time frame of 3 years, leading to a PhD degree. You must have completed the master degree for recording. The amount of the master's degree must normally be on 120 study credits and based on a bachelor's degree of 180 study credits (normally 2+3 years), or an integrated master's degree of 300 study credits (5 years). In the master degree, an independent work of a minimum size of 30 study credits shall normally be included. The project:
A summary of the project description on 5-8 pages (including the source list) should be attached to the application. The project description should do well for theme, problem(s), theory and methodology options. The description shall contain the progress plan for the different parts of the research work.
