About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment

Job Description

We seek a Research Fellow to conduct research on advanced quantum algorithms, with particular emphasis on quantum signal processing, quantum singular value transformation, and related techniques for processing and transforming data encoded in quantum systems. The successful candidate will develop and analyse new quantum algorithms, investigate their computational advantages and resource requirements, and explore their application to problems of scientific and industrial relevance.

The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator and academic collaborators to advance these research directions. Responsibilities include collaborating with industry partners to identify relevant computational problems and develop quantum-algorithmic approaches to addressing them; supervising and mentoring junior researchers and students in collaboration with the Principal Investigator; and preparing research publications, presenting findings at international conferences, and contributing to project reports and research proposals

Qualifications

  • A PhD in physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline, with research experience in quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, or quantum machine learning.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and analysis of quantum algorithms, particularly quantum signal processing, quantum singular value transformation, and related methods.
  • A strong publication record in quantum algorithms or quantum machine learning, demonstrated through publications in leading peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
  • The ability to conduct independent research, communicate technical ideas clearly, collaborate effectively with academic and industry partners, and supervise or mentor junior researchers.
