Tasks

The employment as a postdoctoral is aimed at the fact that after a doctoral degree, the employee gives an early opportunity to develop its independence as a researcher and create the conditions for further merit. The person who is employed as postdoctoral should mainly conduct research. Teaching can also be included in the tasks, however, to a maximum of one fifth of working hours.

Independent research operates in the project frame, with significant space to shape its own research focus. The tasks include developing and conducting studies, publishing scientific work independently and together with others and presenting research at seminars, workshops and conferences.

The postdoctor gets, together with the project manager and the project's other members, a central and coordinating role in the development of OCCPOL's comparative data infrastructure, a common empirical resource that the project's participants use in their own and joint research. The postdoctor actively contributes to the substantive and methodical choices that the work requires. The tasks include collecting, processing, harmonizing, validating and documenting professional data from the four project countries. The work can include, among other things, to develop coding protocols and reproducible workflows, identify and evaluate relevant historical and contemporary data sources, develop and apply calculation methods to classify professional data, examine how professional classification changes over time The choice of methods and working methods is based on the research issues, the properties of the available data materials and the postdoctor's interests and competence.

The service gives the postdoctorary an active role in shaping OCCPOL's scientific development. The project will offer an environment where independently initiated research and cooperation strengthens each other and where new research issues and approach can grow as the work is developed. The postdoctor works near the project manager and other project members, while there is plenty of room to develop own research within the project. How the work is distributed between independently initiated research, joint research and development of the common data resource is shaped jointly during the project, taking into account how the postdoctor's research interests and competence are developed and to the project's overall goals.

Arbetsuppgifter
