Job description

Within the Department of Developmental Psychology, a vaccine is a pH candidate within the FWO project “ Detective Mental Disorders in Advance: Unraveling the Nature, Timing, and Impact of Warning Signs Detected Through Statistical Process Control ”, led by Dr. Marieke Schreuder (project leader) together with Prof. Eva Ceulemans and Prof. Eeske van Rockeel (promoters).

Project description

Mental problems are very stressful, both on individual and social level. If we signal these issues early, a downward spiral can be prevented. The big question is therefore: How can we recognize timely when someone becomes vulnerable to mental problems?

This project focuses on monitoring the resilience of young adults using the Experience Sampling Method (ESM). Based on daily fluctuations in resilience, we look for personal-specific warning signals that indicate an increased risk of mental problems. For this we use statistical process control (SPC). SPC offers a lot of potential for the early detection of changes in mental health. To optimize this potential, some crucial questions must be answered first. What psychological processes give the best insight into future risk? How did warning signals are (ideally)? And how do people experience such warning signals? This project answers these questions and contributes to the knowledge of SPC, and, in the longer term, to the personalized early detection and prevention of mental problems.

The PhD candidate will work with project leader and Copromotor Dr. Marieke Schreuder (Tiu and Ku Leuven) and with the Promoters Prof. Eeske van Rockeel (Tiu) and Prof Eve Ceulemans (KU Leuven).

Functieomschrijving

Binnen het departement Ontwikkelingspsychologie is een vacature voor een PhD kandidaat binnen het FWO-project “Detecting mental disorders in advance: Unraveling the nature, timing, and impact of warning signs detected through statistical process control”, geleid door Dr. Marieke Schreuder (projectleider) samen met Prof. Eva Ceulemans en Prof. Eeske van Roekel (promotors).

Projectomschrijving

Hiervoor gebruiken we statistische procescontrole (SPC).

Eva Ceulemans (KU Leuven).
