Are you a historian with interest in education? Do you have a lot of knowledge of antiquity and experience with the enthusiastic students from this period?Temporary teacher (D4) Old History
For the BA program of the UVA training history, we are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who has expertise in the field of old history. Within the BA history you will not teach you about antiquity, but also broad subjects in which general historical and history-films are being taught. We also expect you to provide you with the subjects at ACASA BA Training Ancient Studies. Giving lectures and seminars (Dutch and English), and guiding students with scripts belong to your tasks.
This will you do
- Under the supervision of the (main) teacher to provide bachelor's education within the Ba History and Ba Ancient Studies, both in the field of ancient history and also in more general subjects of the courses;
- Coordinating practical matters around the own working group of education (such as administration, communication with students).
- Promoted in a relevant discipline. Also candidates with a ma degree in a relevant discipline that has closely completed their PhD trajectory to be invited to apply for

Voor het BA programma van de opleiding Geschiedenis van de UvA zijn we op zoek naar een enthousiaste docent die expertise heeft op het gebied van de Oude Geschiedenis. Binnen de BA Geschiedenis doceer je niet alleen over de Oudheid, maar ook brede vakken waarin algemene historische en geschiedfilosofische vaardigheden worden onderwezen. We verwachten daarnaast van je dat je vakken bij de BA opleiding Ancient Studies van ACASA kunt verzorgen. Het geven van hoorcolleges en werkcolleges (in het Nederlands en het Engels), en het begeleiden van studenten bij scripties behoren bij je taken.
Dit ga je doen
- Onder supervisie van de (hoofd)docent het verzorgen van bacheloronderwijs binnen de BA Geschiedenis en BA Ancient Studies, zowel op het gebied van Oude Geschiedenis als ook binnen meer algemene vakken van de opleidingen;
- Coördineren praktische zaken rondom eigen werkgroep onderwijs (zoals administratie, communicatie met studenten).
- Gepromoveerd in een relevante discipline. Ook kandidaten met een MA-diploma in een relevante discipline die hun PhD traject bijna afgesloten hebben worden uitgenodigd om te solliciteren;
- Pedagogisch-didactische bekwaamheid (in kunnen spelen op de beginsituatie van studenten, ontwikkeld onderwijs kunnen verzorgen, studenten kunnen begeleiden, in staat zijn om een actieve bijdrage te leveren aan overleggen met collega-docenten);
- Goede beheersing van het Nederlands en Engels.
- We bieden een tijdelijk dienstverband voor de periode van negen maanden met een proeftijd van twee maanden, met ingang van 1 december 2026;
- Afhankelijk van relevante ervaring bedraagt het salaris bij aanvang van het dienstverband: €3.706,00 en €5.760,00 bruto per maand op basis van een volledige werkweek van 38 uur. Dit is exclusief 8% vakantie- en 8,3% eindejaarsuitkering. De Cao Nederlandse Universiteiten is van toepassing.
De opleiding Geschiedenis biedt een Nederlandstalige Bacheloropleiding en verschillende Masteropleidingen. Ze maakt deel uit van de Afdeling Geschiedenis, Europese Studies, Religiewetenschappen en CEDLA. Het Bachelor-programma Geschiedenis is breed van opzet, met veel ruimte voor chronologische, geografische en thematische verdieping. Je gaat vakken geven in de Bacheloropleiding van Geschiedenis, maar daarnaast ga je ook interdisciplinair onderwijs verzorgen bij de BA-opleidingen van het Amsterdam Center for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA).
