The Chair of Vehicle Technology (FTM) is looking for scientific co-worker for remote map & environment modification for guidance officers of automated mobility
<!DOCTYPE html>
Background
Autonomous vehicles will not be able to master the complexity of any traffic situation independently even in the distant future. Especially in situations that differ from the originally stored card or the defined Operational Design Domain (ODD), vehicles often stop, although safe travel would be possible. We are developing an interface for autonomous mobility controllers, through which such situations can be resolved remotely, through targeted changes to the map and ODD, rather than by classical remote control. Design with us tomorrow's Leitwarte and explore exciting dissertation topics.
Your Challenge
As a doctoral candidate, you will explore how a vehicle that comes to a halt due to an uncovered situation becomes operational again through targeted remote interventions in card and ODD, without a human being directly controlling the vehicle. This ranges from the extension of the navigable area (e.g. ==References== If an obstacle requires an escape outside of the originally released area until the temporary abolition of individual traffic rules (e.g. ==References== the reinterpretation of a perpendicular centre line into a dashed one, in order to allow a safe overtaking). You develop concepts such as how such modifications can be safely defined, validated and integrated in the control room interface for a limited period of time, and ensure that they remain traceable and traceable at all times.
Your profile
- Very good master's degree in (media) computer science, robotics, engineering (1,x-Schnitt) at a recognized university
- Experience with HD cards, ODD concepts or traffic control modeling of advantage
- Communication and organization are a matter of course for you
- German and English (min. B2)
- Solid programming skills in Python, C++, ROS2
Your Chances
You actively shape autonomous mobility and build up a valuable network of science and industry. You have extensive server infrastructure and test vehicles at your disposal; you take responsibility from the beginning, supervise study work and pass on your knowledge.
We offer
- Temporary full-time post according to TV-L E13 (100 %) for 2+1 years
- Possibility of promotion and start-up
- Innovative research area with high relevance
- Modern working environment and infrastructure
- Flexible working hours incl. home office
- Own budget for training courses and meetings
- Possibility to stay abroad
- Start from 1.10.2026
Please submit only one application to max. Two places! The position is suitable for the occupation with severely disabled people; it requires attendance at the chair, travel, teamwork and tests in laboratories or on test tracks. Severely disabled applicants are preferred with essentially equal suitability. TUM aims to increase the proportion of women; applications for women are expressly welcomed.
Application
We look forward to your meaningful documents (cover letter, CV, attachment). Please send them promptly with a job name in the subject by e-mail / mail to:

Der Lehrstuhl für Fahrzeugtechnik (FTM) sucht wissenschaftliche/n Miterarbeiter/in für Remote Map- & Umfeldmodifikation für Leitwarten automatisierter Mobilität
<!DOCTYPE html>
Hintergrund
Dein Profil
- Sehr guter Masterabschluss in (Medien-) Informatik, Robotik, Ingenieurwissenschaften (1,x-Schnitt) an einer anerkannten Universität
- Erfahrung mit HD-Karten, ODD-Konzepten oder Verkehrsregelmodellierung von Vorteil
- Kommunikation und Organisation sind für dich selbstverständlich
- Deutsch und Englisch (mind. B2)
- Solide Programmierkenntnisse in Python, C++, ROS2
Deine Chancen
