Your personal sphere of play:
As a Postdoctoral University Assistant, you will join the research team led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hartmut Wulfram.
The Department of Classical Philology, Medieval and Neo-Latin Studies is dedicated to research and teaching across the languages and literatures of Greek and Roman Antiquity (including Late Antiquity), as well as Late, Medieval, and Neo-Latin language and post-antique Latin literature up to the present day—a span of approximately 2,700 years. At the core of its mission is language training in Greek and Latin, alongside the literary analysis and textual interpretation of works from European Antiquity that have significantly shaped, and continue to influence, world culture. Student education is delivered within the framework of bachelor's and master's degree programs, teacher education programs (Latin and/or Greek), and doctoral degree programs in Greek and/or Latin.
Your future tasks:
You will actively contribute to research, teaching, and administration:

You will develop an independent research profile in the field of Neo-Latin Philology (preferably Italian Humanism).

You will prepare and complete a publishable habilitation thesis (following a dissertation in Neo-Latin, this may also be in Classical Latin Studies).

You will publish internationally and deliver conference presentations and lectures.

You will independently teach courses to the extent stipulated by the collective bargaining agreement.

You will undertake administrative responsibilities in research (e.g., assisting in the organization of conferences) and teaching (e.g., serving on academic committees).
Your Profile & Qualifications:

Completed doctoral/PhD degree in Latin Studies, alongside a documented interest in Neo-Latin Philology and the Latin reception tradition.

Outstanding doctoral dissertation in the field of Classical Latin Studies or Neo-Latin Philology.

Didactic competence and teaching skills.

Proficient IT user skills (especially MS Office).

Team player with strong social and communication skills.
Language Proficiencies:

Latin: Excellent command

Ancient Greek: Basic knowledge

German: Excellent command
-
English: Very good command
-
Italian: Very good reading comprehension

French: Very good reading comprehension
