Description of the post
Subject of Thesis
The Plankton Senses team is looking for a highly motivated and creative student for a thesis position as part of a project to elucidate the evolution of pressure in zooplankton. The successful candidate will use marine larvae of Platynereis and Ciona ascidia to understand the molecular, cellular and neuronal mechanisms of pressure sensation. Benchmarking will require the use of advanced neurobiology techniques, including calcium imaging, optogenetics, genomic publishing, and behavioural phenotyping.
Your Working Environment
During the thesis, the student will acquire skills in in vivo microscopy, experimental neurobiology, genetics and behavioural work. He/she will benefit from high-quality supervision and will have the opportunity to lead the research and interact with other project participants.
