Description of the post

Subject of Thesis

The project aims to explore how ageing alters inter-cerebral synchronization during social interaction, and to what extent this synchronization is associated with the quality of the social link between partners. To this end, we will study populations of young and old adults performing various tasks of motor coordination in dyad. Different neurophysiological (EEG, ECG, fNIRS) and behavioural measurements will be recorded simultaneously in both partners. We will develop, train and then test automatic learning algorithms to identify signs of decreased brain resilience during aging. The project is part of an interdisciplinary approach to the interface between neurosciences, psychology, motion science and signal processing.
Missions
The PhD student will participate in all stages of the research, from the design and implementation of the experiments to the analysis and valorisation of the results. Its tasks will be:
● Designing and implementing experimental situations of motor and social coordination;
● Recruit participants;
● Collecting EEG, ECG, fNIRS and motor synchronization data;
● Monitoring the quality of experimental data;
● Processing of data, in collaboration with IRIT researchers and engineers;
● Interpret results from an integrative perspective linking development, brain activity, motor coordination and social interaction;
● Contribute to the drafting of scientific papers and the communication of results in congresses and seminars.
The PhD student will work in an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, neuroscientists, movement scientists and computer engineers.
