Position Description
The University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) is seeking a pediatric psychologist for the Pain Medicine program with an anticipated start date of February 2027 or thereafter. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in clinical service, teaching, and research in a diverse and inclusive academic community.
Seattle Children’s provides care to children from the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) region and supports pediatric surgical and medical specialties. Responsibilities in the interdisciplinary Pediatric Pain Program include psychological assessment and treatment services in the outpatient pain clinic, pain rehabilitation program, and inpatient consultation service. There are opportunities for interprofessional teaching and collaborative research in the Pediatric Pain and Sleep Innovation Lab at the Center for Child Health Behavior and Development, Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI). This position features an academic appointment through the UW Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, a close affiliate of SCH and SCRI. As one of the nation’s top ranked medical schools and research institutions, our faculty benefit from being part of an expansive academic department of over 260 faculty members and 160 residents and fellow trainees across its clinical sites. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research/scholarship and service.
The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (e.g., July 1-June 30). Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (e.g., July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), with the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. These positions are without tenure due to funding. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range will be: Assistant Professor $11,667 - $12,500 per month ($140,004 - $150,000 annually), Associate Professor $13,334 - $14,167 per month ($160,008 – $170,004 annually), and Professor $14,667 - $15,584 ($176,004 - $187,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the CUMG practice plan. Compensation provided by the CUMG practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Qualifications
Must have a PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in clinical or health psychology, demonstrate evidence of specialty training in pediatric pain medicine, and must obtain State of Washington psychology licensure no later than the appointment start date.
