Job description
The vacancy concerns a three-year promotional program at the Internal Medicine Department within the Easmus MCS Niceques Medicine, in close cooperation with the Hospital Having and Cardio-Thor Acquiring Department. Vascular medicine provides top-class client to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. With new research projects, we want to further improve the quality of cardiovascular care.In order to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, risk factors such as cholesterol and blood pressure can be treated. The promotional process focuses on cholesterol lowering therapy and other cardiovascular medication, including factors that affect its application in practice in both patients with hereditary and with a non-hereditary cause of hypercholesterolemia. Although effective means are to reduce cholesterol, it appears in daily care that all patients are treated optimally, especially women, people with migration background and people from lower socioeconomic positions.
In addition, perceptions of healthcare providers and patients also play a role in or not starting or continuing treatment.
The purpose of the promotional process is to investigate why some patients are undergoing, how healthcare providers apply the current guidelines and which barriers may exist with shared decision making on cardiovascular medication such as statins. In addition, it is possible to comply with possible influencing factors, including information provision, health skills, imaging around cholesterol and other risk factors, and the influence of medication form and packaging on patient preferences.
The focus of this promotional process is in conducting scientific clinical research. You coordinate the research in Erasmus MC and acts as a point of contact for participating hospitals and universities. The project is carried out in close cooperation with different (inter) national research groups and is strong multidisciplinary of nature, with involvement of vascular medicine, cardiology, cardio-thorocal surgery, hospital pharmacy, primary care and patient organizations.

Functieomschrijving
